Photos of the Week
Each week you will be given a new theme. These photos will be shared with others in our class through the use of social media and hashtags.
I encourage you to take some time to think about the week’s theme and then off you go to capture an image that relates to that theme. If you like, you can upload an image from your camera roll, but its preferable to shoot something new – therein lies the challenge!
When you are happy with your image, upload and share your image on Instagram using the hashtag #POWERPhotoClass and #Week__. As all photographers do, you will want to include a title for your image. And one or two lines about the thought process behind your shot. This will help you get to know this stuff and others learn from your technique.
The objective of this challenge is to help you improve your photography by actually PRACTICING photography. It really does not matter if you miss a week and have to play catch up as long as you are shooting, improving and learning a little too. However, you do tend to receive more feedback if you are posting during the dedicated week to the theme.
Check back on Instagram frequently throughout the week to see what others have posted and shared, you can do this by searching the hashtags. Take the time to comment on each other’s photos, what you liked and possible suggestions. Please be kind and respectful to each other in the class. No one in the class knows it all and this challenge is designed for people seeking to improve their skill, not experts.
Timing
You will be asked at the end of the term to complete a self-evaluation on the effort you expended in shooting, sharing, and commenting while completing the Photos of the Week.
